Are you Inspired?

This site features a variety of vintage collection items and as time progresses one might see more vintage plumbing and hardware. I do love unique vintage items, I tend to stray back to my passion of plumbing and hardware-
I trust that you will be fascinated by my site and hope that you will be inspired by things you have never seen before. One can learn something new and exciting as well as have a chance to take a step back in time to craftsmanship of a different era... The Vintage Era.
Enjoy!

Mad about Faucets

Faucets are the finishing touch of any bathroom
they are the things most often used and more often eye catching

I am most defiantly mad about faucets!

This faucet is featured on my Narova sink.
Its Standard Mfg Co. Dated 1914

Many people wonder about using dual hot and cold faucets.
it takes the same amount of time for the hot to heat up
as it would if it had a mixer faucet.

They mainly come in handy in a bathroom
less used by guests and constant hand washing.

ex: Master Bathroom:
This sink is featured in a master bathroom
and is mainly used for toothbrushing and
touch ups, so really on the cold is being used
on a regular basis.

As you can see from the picture above both faucets are marked
"Hot" and "Cold" and the center waste is marked "Lift Waste"

The thing I love most about this faucet is the "Lift Waste"
in the center. Its a bit of a rarity to find a waste that actually explains
to "lift." Generally they just say waste or are blank.

(What is the waste for? - See Fun Plumbing Facts on the main page.)

Like a clean look? Check out our porcelain fixtures

Flashy isn't always classy!

Porcelain fixtures are often taken for granted
because they are a sleek look they get overlooked
in a bathroom when you first glance.
Although if you think about the sentence above
that sounds like a great look!
Often they are made to be tiled into your wall
and because they are fired like your porcelain wall tiles
they create a elegant look and are
extremely easy to clean and maintain.

(I couldn't use the camera flash because the light just bounced
off of the gorgeous white porcelain glaze)

This soap holder is can be set flush with your wall tile.
It has three bumps inside to hold the soap in place and
leave some air all the way around the soap to dry.
It is a classy look in any bathroom

It's in perfect order with no attached mortar/ cement.
Clean and ready for use!

I absolutely love this toothbrush holder!
The thing that makes this great is
is has open slots for the toothbrushes because
as the years went on our toothbrushes have become
much larger in the handle and most will not fit
through some of the vintage slotted toothbrush holders.
It has a curved shelf on the top to hold your toothpaste!
I have never seen one like this before.
This porcelain piece is so versatile it can be mortared
in the wall or if you are careful it has two small holes for screws

sold

This is a Subway Tile wall toilet paper holder.
Dates back to the 1920's. It measures 6'' square.
It has a chrome piece that the toilet paper goes around
(not photographed)

As you can see it's in pristine condition. It only has one
craze line in the edge of the piece, but during use not seen.
No Name-

Large Square Bathtub Sponge Basket

Rare! Nickel plated brass large square wall sponge basket for over the bathtub.
Featured are some old catalog photos showing this piece.
Measures 8" x 10" x 3" deep. About 8" tall overall.

The square sponge holder is located top right of this photo.
The reason this particular basket is so large is because it
accommodates a full body bath sponge.

It's in beautiful condition considering its age and has much of the plating
still on it. As one can see, it shined up nicely and has NOT been re-plated.
On the inside of the basket (where the sponge would sit) is a bit more worn,
but as to be expected with this piece.
This photo above shows a perfect picture of the square sponge basket
it's located in the center of the photo on the second row.
Absolutely Beautiful!!

Im always on the Hunt for More!

Many people love vintage but don't always have a use for it, or it doesn't work for there needs at this time. If you find your self in this case, a loving new home is only a click away!

My Vintage collection dates back to the turn of the century (1890-1914) and many items displayed on this site are one of a kind collector’s premium first-choice.

Currently, I seek opportunities to gain and/or examine antiques in good, fair, or, poor condition with the anticipation that all damaged, unwanted vintage items can be repaired, reused and return to its “almost” original condition with a little TLC.

If you have a vintage piece that is seeking out a good home please let me know. I accept many things anything in any condition- Your trash is my treasure!

Repurposing Vintage

Repurpose How?

Vintage things don't always need to be used for
their original intended purpose.
One of the main reasons why I love
vintage is because of the craftsmanship and
art that was put into everything.
Some how throughout the years we lost
the details and design that was beauty-

Below is a beautiful dark leather suitcase with chrome
accent pieces, although one clasp is broken
it doesn't hinder this look and new purpose!

I use the vintage luggage tags to mark the contents inside.

I've displayed this suitcase in my bookcase
It adds a beautiful charm and also holds
a variety of cookbooks that I don't use as often as the
ones set beside the luggage. Instead of having a row
of complete books I broke the look up
and added charm.

These vintage clocks display an eclectic look.
They add a variety of looks that every guest in your house
will find one that is their favorite.
The best part is they look better if they don't work!

Not to mention for New Years you can set them all
at midnight to add extra excitement to the party mood!!

Things to know about vintage plumbing

Wastes- ???

What is the waste used for? Why do I need one?

The waste is just like an overflow. It acts like a stopper with a cleaner look and you don't have to put your hands into the water to pull it out.
You may not need one if you don't ever plug your sink.

The way the waste operates is: the tube that is the waste has holes in it to allow the water to drain out and down your drain pipe, the holes are the overflow. They bring the water to a certain level in your sink or tub then inside the pipe they travel down the holes and drain.
Its a clean, sleek look and works!

Beautifully Designed Toilets

"No I'm not a flower pot, I'm a TOILET!"

Embossed Toilets:

**Look Closely** at the embossing to see the difference in the toilets designs

Many people think that because embossed toilets are from the
turn of the century they are no longer usable.
That is just not the case!

This beautiful wooden low tank toilet shows how it blends to the room
and the feeling of a furniture piece that matches the rest of the house

It's All About Quality- Porcelain and Vitreous China

What's the difference between Porcelain and Vitreous China?

As per "The Blue Book of Plumbing" by Trenton Potteries Company:

The process in which many vintage bathroom fixtures were made was by melting the clay into a liquid form and pouring it into a mold. It is thoroughly dried and fired at an intense heat, glazed then fired at an intense heat again. In the photo above it shows that the unfired china clay is much smoother and has a clean and lighter completion, as compared to the unfired porcelain clay, which appears to be darker in color and rough in texture. Many vintage fixtures that were made from Vitreous China often have crazing marks in the china, they appear to be like small cracks but they are not. Crazing marks have no affect on the integrity of the fixture, but they do add a gorgeous patina of age and texture. Porcelain was often put on top of cast iron fixtures for example: cast iron bath tub, and some cast iron sinks.

What's That?

Wow that's cool... But what is that??

A baby bath? A pet tub? A wash basin? A sink?

Actually it's called a Sitz Bath
and its intended purpose is exactly as it sounds,
to sit.

Its very comfortable and a high back to
lean on. You sit in it as if it was a chair
with your feet out in front.

Its your own hot tub without getting your hair and
extremities' wet. You can sit back relax, read a book
and conserve water by not filling up a five or six foot bath tub.
(Not to mention take a nap without drowning)

Gorgeous claw-foot feet will look spectacular when finish.
This eye catching piece would make a great addition and
conversation piece to any vintage bathroom.

What's That??

Standard Mfg Co. ca1920's with original handles
This foot bath is built with a wide edge to sit on and soak your feet.
The original porcelain and fitted skirt on the bottom
makes this a beautiful fixture!

Although it can be used for many purposes also noted above
with the sitz bath.  A great addition to any vintage bathroom and
an amazing conversation piece.

Hallenscheid and McDonald AKA Hall-Mack had their fame mainly in the 1940's-1960's. Although many people still find their unique designs famous today!
